Diazepam

Composition :

Each ampoule 2 ml contains : Diazepam  10 mg

Indications :

- Convulsions as in status epilepticus, tetanus, eclampsia, and convulsions due to other causes, e.g. poisoning.

- Skeletal muscle spasms, e.g. joint and muscle severe spasm due to inflammation or local trauma.

- Sedation in intensive care units, e.g. myocardial infarction (as an emergency therapy).

- Anesthesia for minor surgical procedures and gynecologic operations (as an adjunct agent).

- Psychoneurotic disorders characterized by tension, excitement, unrest, sleep disturbances, irritability, aggressiveness, reactive mood disturbances and somatic manifestations such as tense muscles, tremors and tachycardia.

- Stressful therapeutic or diagnostic interventions, e.g. endoscopy, some radiological procedures, biopsies, cardiac catheterization and cardioversion.

Dosage & Administration :

Diazepam injections are used by i.v. or i.m. I.v. is preferred and given slowly into a large vein of the antecubital fossa at a recommended rate of no more than 5 mg (1ml) per minute for adults and 0.25 mg/kg per 3 minutes in children. Small veins are not used. Intra-arterial administration & extravasations are extremely avoided.

- Severe anxiety : up to 10 mg is given by i.m. or i.v., repeated if necessary after 4 hours.

- Premedication : 100 – 200 µg/ kg i.v.

- Seizures : 10 – 20 mg at a rate of 5 mg/min. repeated if necessary after 30-60 minutes. Once seizures have been controlled 3 mg/ kg may be given by slow i.v. over 24 hrs.

        * Children : 200 – 300 µg/ kg, or 1 mg may be given for each year of age.

- Muscle spasm : 10 mg i.m. or slow i.v., repeated if necessary after 4 hrs.

        * Tetanus (adults & children) : 100 – 300 µg/ kg every 4 hours by slow continuous i.v. infusion.

- Alcohol withdrawal syndrome : in severe symptoms 10 mg i.m. or i.v.

Composition :

Each ampoule 3 ml contains : Diclofenac sodium   75 mg

Indications :

Diclogin is used mainly for the relief of pain & inflammation in various conditions :

- Musculoskeletal & joint disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis osteoarthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis.

- Peri-articular disorders such as bursitis & tendinitis.

- Soft-tissue disorders such as sprains & strains.

- Other painful conditions such as renal colic, acute gout, dysmenorrhoea, and following some surgical procedures.

Diclofenac sodium can also be used for the management of fever.
 

Dosage & Administration :

Contraindications :

- Hypersensitivity to diclofenac sodium.

- Gastric & intestinal ulcer.

- In patients who have experienced asthma, urticaria or other allergic type reactions after taking aspirin or other NSAIDs.

- Nasal polyps, angioedema, bronchospasm, or asthma.

- Moderate to severe impairment of renal function, hypovolaemia, or dehydration.

- Patients at high risk for postoperative bleeding or incomplete heamostasis, heamatopoieteic disorders, or cerebrovascular bleeding.

- Diclogin is not used in children.

Dosage and administration:

Usual dose in both adults and children over two years of age :

- One tablet of ZENTAVER 400mg as a single dose in cases of Enterobius vermicularis , Trichuris trichiura , Ascaris lumbricoides, Ancylostoma duodenale and Necator Americans. In cases of Strongyloides or Taeniasis one tablet of ZENTAVER 400mg should be given for 3 consecutive days.

If the patient is not cured on follow-up after three weeks,
a second course of treatment is indicated.

The tablet can be chewed, swallowed with a little amount of water. No specific procedures such as fasting or purging are required.

Indications :

Cetirizine is a potent non-sedating antihistamine with a low potential for drowsiness at normal doses & with additional anti-allergic properties. It is a selective (H1-receptor) antagonist and virtually free from anti-cholinergic and anti-serotonin effects. Cerizine inhibits the histamine-mediated early phase of the allergic reaction and also reduces the migration of inflammatory cells and the release of mediators associated with the late allergic response.
 

Dosage & Administration :

- Adults & children over 6 years : 10 mg once daily or 5 mg twice daily.

- Children aged 2-6 years old a dose of 5 mg once daily or 2.5 mg twice daily.

- It is advisable to take the dose with a little liquid during the evening meal. The dose may be reduced if side effects appear.

Indications :

Fusimide is used in the treatment of :

- Peripheral oedema due to congestive heart failure, obstruction or changes in the walls of the veins.

- Oedema accompanying pregnancy in the last trimester.

- Premenstrual syndrome.

- Toxaemia of pregnancy.

- Hypertension of mild and moderate degree.

- In association with antihypertensive therapy in severe hypertension.

- Oedema due to burns.

Dosage & Administration :

Tablets : 40 mg once daily by mouth, adjusted as necessary according to response. 80 mg or more may be required once or twice daily, or intermittently.

Injections: In emergency or when oral therapy can't be given, 20 – 50 mg of furosemide may be administered by i.m. or slow i.v. injection. If doses greater than 50 mg, the rate of i.v. injection is not more than 4 mg / minute either direct i.v. or by infusion.

Children: Oral dose: 1-3 mg/ kg body-weight daily up to a maximum of 40 mg daily.

Injections: 0.5 – 1.5 mg/ kg daily up to a maximum of 20 mg daily.
